Liberty County Animal Control has rescued Juicy, a dog that officials say has endured "three hellish months."
Juicy was found locked inside a Hinesville Home Wednesday, abandoned and nearly starved. A veterinarian says the dog should have weighed 70 pounds, but only weighed 39 when she was found.
Animal Control says there were bags of open food strewn around the residence. He said she had been adopted from a Savannah shelter last year by a couple who had a newborn. She proved too rambunctious to be around the infant, so the family gave the dog to a friend. Police currently have a warrant for his arrest on animal cruelty charges.
Juicy will be returned to the Savannah Shelter where she will be fostered and returned back to health.
Anyone responsible for this neglect needs to face charges.
